GET FIT. HAVE FUN.
Sara began formal dance training at age 4, gaining a deep understanding of movement at a young age. As a child, the Florida native was always outdoors for swimming, biking, creating dance routines, or climbing trees (often without shoes). Her years of dance training and natural island-girl nature laid down the foundation that fitness should be fun, and shoes are not always needed.
Sara found her love for yoga at age 13, when she began classes led by her stepmother. In her early 20s, she went on an esoteric journey, becoming a certified yoga instructor, Reiki master, and Pranic healer. This journey landed her in Hawaii, were she felt a deep-earth energy connection. Sara left the island to continue her studies in Los Angeles, training with top teachers in the yoga community including Shiva Rea, Annie Carpenter, and Saul David Rea.
Although yoga has been her main focus, health and fitness have always come naturally to her as well. With her energetic, positive, and motivating personality, Sara is a natural fitness instructor who creates a fun, uplifting atmosphere in her classes. She has taught yoga and fitness classes in California, New York, Florida, and Hawaii, as well as in Germany and India.
Over the years, Sara has developed her own yoga concept – Kova Yoga: It’s predicated on the belief that yoga is for everybody and every body, that yoga doesn’t have to be so serious, and that your yoga practice should be about you. Kova Yoga classes are alignment-based and Vinyasa-designed to support all levels. She also teaches yogalates, a fusion of yoga and Pilates, as well as her new concept yogardio, which combines yoga with high-intensity interval training that gives students the best of both worlds.
Since 2012, Sara has been back on her beloved island of Oahu, where she cofounded the HI LIFE ATHLETICS outdoor fitness community with her husband, Marc.
In addition to her yoga instruction, Sara has appeared in several productions including Hawaii Five-0, CSI: Miami, 20th Century Fox’s Bachelor Party 2, SyFy channel’s Dinoshark, Cheerleader Massacre 2, and a Michelob Ultra Light television commercial.
